History
Historical Context
Zoroastrianism is one of the oldest religions in Iraq, with mentions of Zoroastrians in the Holy Quran in Surah Al-Hajj, verse 17. The representation of Zoroastrians in Iraq was established in response to the need for official representation and community support for Zoroastrians. Since then, it has worked to participate in national and international events, such as UN sessions against discrimination, interfaith dialogue initiatives, and cultural and social activities that enhance diversity and tolerance.
The representation of Zoroastrianism collaborates with national and international institutions to promote dialogue and understanding, including the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), the Paths of Dialogue and Diversity Foundation, and Iraqi and international religious and cultural institutions.
