Congratulations from the Zoroastrian Representation - Main Office to our brothers and children of Zoroastrianism in Iraq and the world on the occasion of Yalda Eid (the longest night of winter), during which a number of activities were held in Kurdistan, Baghdad, and Basra. We would like to share with you what was published by researcher and writer Ibrahim Zarari about the occasion: (Shab-e Yalda or Chelleh Night, also known as Yalda, is said to be the night of the birth of Mithra. It is the longest night, and the next day, Saturday, marks the winter solstice astronomically in the Northern Hemisphere and the summer solstice in the Southern Hemisphere. Winter reaches its peak on these days.
